Why We Do What We Do

We recognize that we’re all broken people who have generally made a royal mess of our lives! Deep down, we all know that life wasn’t supposed to turn out like this! Life was meant to be so much more... and still CAN be!

Apart from our Creator, we’ll go on leading largely empty and meaningless lives—engaged in a never-ending (but ultimately futile) quest for purpose and fulfillment.

The good news is that the One Who made us stands ready, willing, and able to fix our brokenness and make us well! We’re getting to know Him on a personal basis and are in the process of growing well together. We’d like nothing better than to introduce YOU and have you join us on this journey...to life as it was meant to be lived! That’s the whole reason we’re here—the very reason we exist! Won’t you join us...in growing well together?!

Four basic principles help us get started. The first principle is simply that:

God loves us and offers a wonderful plan for our lives.

God’s Love

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in Him is acquitted.” 1

God’s Plan

Jesus says: “I came so [you] can have real and eternal life, more and better life than [you] ever dreamed of. 2

Why, then, are most people experiencing such empty and meaningless lives? Because…

We all sin and our sin has separated us from God.

We Are Sinful

“We’ve [all] compiled this long and sorry record as sinners...and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives that God wills for us.” 3

We were created to live in harmony with God; but, because of our stubborn self-will, we chose to go our own independent way, and our relationship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is what the Bible calls sin.

We Are Separated

“Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death” [spiritual separation from God]. 4

This diagram illustrates that God is perfect and holy but people are sinful. A great gulf separates us. The arrows illustrate how we continually try to reach God and a meaningful life through our own efforts—like good deeds or religion—but we inevitably fail.

There’s only one way to bridge this gulf…

Jesus Christ is the only cure for our sin. Only through Him can we know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives.

He Died in Our Place

“God put His love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to Him.” 5

He Rose From the Dead

“Christ died for our sins...He was buried...He was raised from death on the third day, exactly as Scripture says...He presented Himself alive to Peter, then to His closest followers, and later to more than five hundred...” 6

He Is the Only Way to God

Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one gets to the Father apart from Me.” 7

This diagram illustrates that God has bridged the gulf which separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.

Yet it is not enough just to know these three principles…

To know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives, we must individually accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

We Must Accept Jesus

“Whoever wanted Him, who believed He was Who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true child-of-God selves.” 8

We Accept Jesus Through Faith

“Saving is all [God’s] idea, and all His work. All we do is trust Him enough to let Him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving.” 9

We Accept Jesus by Personal Invitation

Jesus says: “I stand at the door and knock; if you hear Me call and open the door, I’ll come right in.” 10

Accepting Jesus means inviting Him to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be.

These two circles represent our lives before and after we let Jesus take control.

You can invite Jesus into your life right now! Simply say to Him:

“Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.”

If you’ll say this to Him and really mean it, then Jesus WILL come into your life—just as He promised.

Is this the desire of your heart?

Yes, I just asked Jesus into my life.

Maybe, I am interested in potentially asking Jesus into my life,
but I have a question I would like answered first...
